Danny Trevathan apologizes for vicious hit on Davante Adams

Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan is likely facing a fine and suspension after a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit on Davante Adams in the third quarter of Green Bay’s 35-14 win on Thursday. Trevathan apologized for the hit after the game and said he will reach out to Adams.

The Packers receiver was stood up by Bears safety Adrian Amos after making a short catch on a third-and-goal from the 16-yard line.

Adams was fighting for more yards when Trevathan flew in with a wicked helmet-to-helmet collision that left Adams unconscious on the Lambeau Field turf.

The medical staff was immediately on the field and Trevathan was flagged for the illegal hit, giving the Packers an automatic first down. Adams was taken off the field on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for head and neck injuries. He had movement in all of his extremities and gave fans a thumbs up while strapped to a backboard on his way off the field.

“None of this is intentional,” Bears coach John Fox said following the game. “You never want to see anybody hurt, ours or theirs.”

Koo had a potential game-tying kick blocked in the final second of a 24-21 Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos and then missed what would have been a game-winner in the final seconds of the Chargers’ 19-17 Week 2 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Overall he was 3-for-6 on field goal attempts this season while converting all nine of his extra-point attempts.
