Shelvin Mack will be looking for a new team this summer.
The 28-year-old guard was waived Monday by the Magic, according to multiple reports. Mack, whose full contract was not guaranteed, would have received $6 million in 2017-18.

Mack averaged 6.9 points and 3.9 assists per game as the Magic’s backup point guard last season. He signed a two-year, $12 million contract with Orlando in July 2017.
Mack appeared in a pair of national championship games while playing collegiately at Butler. He was selected in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Wizards.
This could be Michael Porter Jr., but reports out of Chicago indicate the Bulls prefer the Duke big man. Adding Carter to the frontcourt alongside Lauri Markkanen would create a modernized duo capable of spreading out the floor. The 6-10 big man would also give the team additional protection at the rim.
Porter would be a solid selection for the Cavaliers here, as he could potentially slot in as the next man up should LeBron James leave this summer or play off him as a dangerous shooting threat if he sticks around.
Kevin Knox says one team interview at the Combine pressed him if he had a child. Knox, was surprised, obviously replying no. The team asked again, saying their intel had learned he had a child. Knox asked for the kid’s name and the team finally relented, admitting it was hoax.
Not that this line of questioning had any viable strategy to begin with, but the team seemed unprepared for Knox to call its bluff.
Regardless of Knox’s answer, it would have had no discernable value in determining his NBA potential. If the identity of the team comes out, it should make fans a bit uneasy about its talent evaluation and draft strategy.
His NBA projections paint a slightly rosier picture.
