Dalvin Cook’s inaugural NFL season has been cut short.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer on Monday confirmed the rookie running back suffered a torn ACL in his left knee Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said following Sunday’s game against the Lions that Cook has an ACL injury. Cook will have an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage, but the concern is Cook has a full tear of the ACL in his left knee.
The Vikings running back left Sunday’s game after going down without contact. Cook was trying to make a cut when he pulled up lame and lost the ball while grasping at his left leg. The Vikings immediately ruled Cook out for the remainder of the game.
Lions safety Tavon Wilson was credited for forcing the fumble, which Detroit converted into a touchdown to take a 14-7 lead, which stood as the final score.
Cook scored Minnesota’s lone touchdown and had 13 carries for 66 yards, along with an 8-yard reception, prior to his injury. The second-round pick from Florida State entered Sundays game with 288 rushing yards and a touchdown on 61 carries.
